Kimbrough is an author, rock climber, and philosopher who teaches philosophy at San Francisco State University, and climbs all over the great state of California. He has written three guide books including Golden State Bouldering, Yosemite Bouldering, and Black Rock Bouldering. Among other pieces, Kimbrough has co-authored work on a unique topic regarding the The Experience of Reading.
